Police: Woman Wanted for Grand Larceny After Taking Lost Wallet

Riverhead police said the woman picked up a wallet left behind by another patron at the Auntie Anne's on Main Street.

Finders, keepers? Not quite.

Riverhead and Suffolk County police are searching for a woman who they said took a wallet that was accidentally left behind by another patron at the on West Main Street.

Sometime between 2 and 4 p.m. on Oct. 27, a customer at the pretzel store left her wallet behind, according to a police report. When she returned later to find it, the wallet was gone, police said.

After reviewing surveillance footage provided by the store, police said an unknown female with dark hair was caught on camera removing the wallet and leaving the area. Police are seeking information in regards to the grand larceny.

Anyone with information about this alleged crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential. Suffolk County Crime Stoppers will offer a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest, according to a statement by police.
