Repeat Drunk Driver Charged With Felony DWI on Route 58

Riverhead resident was seen moving between lanes unsafely around 1:15 a.m.

According to state police reports, a Riverhead man was arrested on Route 58 on felony DWI charges early on Wednesday morning.

Jamil Houpe, 29, was allegedly seen by state police crossing hazard markings and moving through lanes unsafely while traveling westbound on Route 58 around 1:15 Wednesday morning.

According to reports, upon being interviewed police noticed a strong smell of alcohol coming from Houpe's breath. Houpe then reportedly failed a field sobriety test and was arrested.

Having been charged with DWI in the past decade, Houpe was arrested on felony DWI charges, along with traffic violations.
