Police: 3 Charged After Riverhead CVS Robbed At Gunpoint

The armed robbery is the second at CVS this year.

Three suspects have been charged in connection with a Wednesday morning armed robbery at CVS in Riverhead.

According to Riverhead Detective Sergeant Joseph Loggia, all three were charged with attempted robbery in the first degree, a felony.  

Earlier on Wednesday, Riverhead police officer Rich Oliver said suspects were seen fleeing from the scene and were later caught in a farm field. A farmer saw one of the suspects lying in his field and flagged down a police car, Oliver said. One of the two men was wanted on a warrant, Oliver said.

The robbers held up the Riverhead CVS at gunpoint early Wednesday morning, police said.

According to Riverhead Town police, the store was robbed at gunpoint at 7:10 a.m. No injuries were reported.

Wednesday was the second time this year the store was robbed at gunpoint: Two masked, armed robbers held up a Riverhead CVS in January, police said.

Riverhead police responded to a report of a that robbery at 3:37 a.m., at the CVS located at 1140 Old Country Road.

According to police, responding units were told by employees that two male suspects entered the store, one displaying an unknown type of handgun, demanding cash.

The two suspects allegedly forced an employee to open the store safe and then fled on foot in a westerly direction with an undetemined amount of money.

The two suspects were described as wearing hooded sweatshirts, masks and gloves.
