A Riverhead man was arrested by Riverhead police and charged in the alleged rape of a 11-year-old girl Wednesday morning.
Rufino Martinez-Ortiz, 23, was charged with first degree rape in connection with the sexual assault. Martinez-Ortiz, a worker at North Fork Nursery in Jamesport, will be held on $100,000 bail.
The court also filed an order of protection for the victim's family against Martinez-Ortiz. Riverhead Patch does not disclose the identity of victims of sexual assaults or minors.
No information about a future court date was available at this time.
