Riverhead Man Charged With Boating While Intoxicated

Police say underage passengers were onboard without life jackets -- and there weren't enough life jackets to go around.

A Riverhead man was arrested on Sunday and charged with boating while intoxicated with underage passengers onboard without life jackets -- and not enough life jackets to go around.

Riverhead Town Police reported that on Sunday at approximately 7:18 p.m. they received a call from the Coast Guard requesting assistance at the docks located near the Riverhead Moose Lodge.

The Coast Guard stopped the operator of a 19-foot pleasure boat for allegedly driving erratically in the vicinity of Terry's Creek in Aquebogue and escorted the vessel back to the docks.

Stackevicius was also cited for allegedly having underage passengers onboard who were not wearing life preservers and for having an insufficient number of life preservers on the vessel.
