UPDATED: Riverside Man Killed in Nightclub Shooting

Shooter described as wearing costume from 1995 movie "Dead Presidents."

One man was killed and another was wounded on Friday after a Halloween costume contest ended with a shooting at Dream Night Club on Canal Road in Hampton Bays.

Carlo Petrusa, a 64-year-old man from 525 Riverleigh Ave. in Riverside was shot when the costume contest escalated into a fight between one costume party contestant, dressed as a cave woman, and another patron. According to the police, the fight began inside the club and then moved out to the club's parking lot when another costumed patron ran to a car and grabbed a gun. The shooter then ran back into the club firing the weapon.

Petrusa was brought to Brookhaven Medical Center, where he later died of his injuries.

Southampton police responded to several 911 calls at 3.45 a.m. reporting the shooting at the nightclub.

The other man shot, 35-year-old Shawn Badgett of Middle Island, was the event's promoter. According to police, Badgett left the scene and was transported to Stony Brook University Medical Center for treatment. He was later released.

The shooter, who was dressed as a character from the movie "Dead Presidents," fled the scene. Southampton Town Police had no further comment on the case but are continuing their investigation.
