Riverhead Police Log: Money Missing from Doctor's Cash Deposit Box

The following information was supplied by the Riverhead Town Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

• Peter Dreydopple was arrested on Jan. 4 and charged with first degree criminal contempt and second-degree harassment. Additional information about the circumstances of his arrest was not made available by police. He was arraigned at Riverhead Police Department Headquarters and released on his own recognizance.

• John Negus was arrested on Jan. 1 on Long Pond Road in Wading River and charged with DWI. The circumstances of his arrest were not made available by police.

• Nearly $1,400 was stolen from a cash deposit box at a Riverhead doctor's office sometime between Dec. 27 and 30, according to a police report of the alleged incident. Police received a call from an employee at the office on Main Road that stated $1,380.76 in cash and checks had been taken from a deposit box in an unlocked office cabinet, police said. The employee said she last saw the box on Jan. 27 at approximately noon, according to the report. Police said they are still investigating the incident.

• About $1,200 in merchandise is missing from a Riverhead garden store, according to a report filed by police on Dec. 28. An employee from the on Osborne Avenue came to police headquarters to report that they noticed items were missing from the store after finishing an inventory of their merchandise. The man said two kennels worth $439 apiece, several rubber stall mats and a video camera worth $99 were taken.
