Convicted Sex Offender Charged With Failing To Register In Riverside

In other Southampton Town arrest reports through Dec. 10, Riverhead resident charged with violation order of protection.

The following information was supplied by the Southampton Town Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

Criminal Contempt

•Wladyslawa Dolinksi, 69, of Riverhead, was charged with criminal contempt in the second degree, a misdemeanor, in Riverside on Dec. 8. Cops say Dolinski had previously violated an order of protection and a local judge issued an arrest warrant based on the offense. Wladyslawa was charged at 2:50 p.m.

Failure to Register as a Sex Offender

• Richard Hiers, 51, of Brentwood, was charged by police Dec. 5 with failing to register as a sex offender. An investigation revealed that Hiers moved into a Riverside home in August without registering his address as required by NYS Correction Law. Hiers has a prior conviction as a sex offender.

Sorry the wording is confusing. I assume the man was arrested in Riverside and not a resident.

Registration is silly. Now the tax payer is going to have to pay sixty to a hundred thousand dollars incarcerating this man because he didn't register? There are many reasons not to register; it's wrong, to avoid vigilantes and harassment from "good" people, to get a job, get an apartment, have friends. We don't register drug dealers, gang members, murderers or domestic abusers . . .

As disgusting an inhuman as sex crimes are, I think I have to agree with BarT. Certainly, there are times when convicted sex offenders need to have a careful eye on them, but think about the 18 year old kid who was caught with his 16 year old girlfriend - should HE have his life ruined and be branded for life with a legal "mark of Cain," unable to get a job or a home? I have no idea the specifics of Richard Hiers' case; I'm just speaking generally here.
