Roads Dangerous, Police Urge Drivers to Go Slow, Stay Home

Police are urging residents to stay off the roads.

With near-blizzard conditions blanketing Riverhead, police are urging residents to drive safely.

According to Riverhead Town police, there have been only a series of minor fenders so far, with cars sliding on slick roadways.

Residents, police said, should go home and stay home.

With a slew of area businesses closing early because of the snow, roads are crowded, and police said fortunately, most are driving slowly and with caution. But as conditions continue to worsen overnight, police said people should stay off the roads.
