UPDATE: Body Found on Beach Confirmed as Missing Riverhead Woman

Susan Hanna, 48, found dead on shoreline after missing person search yesterday.

According to police, a body found Saturday afternoon on a Riverhead beach following a search and rescue mission has been confirmed as the body of Susan Hanna.

Police and fire departments had started searching for Hanna, 48, of Riverhead, on Saturday morning. According to Riverhead Police, Hanna left her mother's house on Middle Road at approximately 4:30 Saturday morning. After a call was placed into the department around 8:00, a search yielded the woman's abandoned vehicle at the end of Oakleigh Avenue in Baiting Hollow.

Following an unsuccessful grid search Saturday afternoon police had called the search off temporarily, waiting for the tide to recede. The body of a female was found Saturday afternoon, and positively identified by a family member on Sunday.
