Second Suspect Arrested and Charged in Taxi Driver Robbery

The arrest comes about a week after a 16-year-old Wading River girl was arrested in the case.

A second suspect police said was involved in the November robbery of a taxi driver in Riverhead has been arrested, according to a police blotter report.

Jvon Creighton was arrested on Monday and charged with two counts of first-degree robbery, both felonies. Police could not be reached to provide further details on his arrest.

On Nov. 3, a Shirley taxi driver picked up two fares, a black man and a woman wearing dark hooded sweatshirts, on East Main Street and brought them to Harrison Avenue, according to a police report of the incident. The victim told police that once he and his fares arrived at the destination, the woman became agitated when he refused to make change for a $20 bill. She then allegedly beat him several times, possibly with a pipe, from the backseat.

The male suspect, who was sitting in the passenger seat, brandished what appeared to be a gun and demanded the driver's money, police said. The victim said he dropped his money on the floor, allowed the taxi to roll into a parked vehicle, and ran to a nearby laundromat and called the police. Once police arrived, the victim was taken to  and treated for his injuries. The suspects had already fled the scene, police said.

Creighton's arrest comes five days after Tasheria Horsley, 16, of Wading River, was , both felonies, after an investigation revealed her involvement as an accomplice in the robbery, according to an arrest report. She is being charged as an adult, police confirmed. Horsley was processed and arraigned at the . She was released on her own recognizance and issued a later court date, police said.
