Southampton Incident Reports: Auto Break-Ins, Burglaries Reported

In this week's police files, burglaries and car thefts reported from Flanders to Sagaponack.

Southampton Town police incident reports for the week of Feb. 20 to Feb. 26:

Burglary

• In Flanders on Feb. 21, a burglary/theft was reported by a man who told police someone broke into his mobile trailer unit that was used for storage and removed a 50-inch plasma TV. The burglar also entered the complainant's vehicle and stole various items, according to the incident report. No forced entry was noted.

• A realtor who was showing a home in Flanders on Feb. 22 told police that she noticed the house had been burglarized and copper piping was missing from the basement. Forced entry through the home's back door and damage to the door was noted by police. The homeowner is currently out of state.

Criminal Mischief

• A Riverside man reported on Feb. 26 that a suspect threw a brick through the rear window of his car that was parked on the front lawn of his residence. The complainant’s neighbor admitted to throwing the brick and paid $200 to the man to pay for the damage to the car. Police declared the matter cleared.

Petty Larceny

• In Flanders on Feb. 26, a woman reported to police that someone had stolen several items from her car, including a handbag, wallet, CD case and iPhone charger.

• A Hampton Bays man reported to police Feb. 26 that an unknown person removed both license plates from his vehicle. The complainant noticed the plates were missing after he made several stops in Riverhead and Southampton.
