Southampton Police: Endangering the Welfare of Children, DWI

A list of recent crime activity as reported by the Southampton Police Department.

Rona M. Simmons, 39, of Flanders was arrested on March 7 on a warrant for parole violation, according to police. Police said Simmons was a passenger in a vehicle that was pulled over in Riverside for a traffic violation and an investigation revealed she had an active parole warrant. She was arrested and transported to Southampton Town Police headquarters in Hampton Bays.

Anthony Tyrell McCoy, 26, and Tameka Foster, 35, of Flanders were arrested March 9 and 10 and charged with endangering the welfare of a child. Police said McCoy and Foster smoked PCP on March 7 at their residence in Flanders while in custody of their 2-month-old child and Foster’s 8-year-old cousin. “Due to their level of impairment from the drugs, the two subjects were not able to care for the children,” police said.

Heleno Ardon Lopez, 36, of Fort Meyers, Fla., was arrested in Flanders on March 12 and charged with DWI and being an unlicensed driver, a violation. Police said Lopez was stopped near the intersection of Flanders Road and Evergreen Road and his eyes were glassy and he had the strong odor of alcohol on his breath. Police said he performed poorly on standard field sobriety tests and failed a pre-screen breath test.

Grinda Fay Roach, 51, of Calverton was arrested on March 12 and charged with DWI and circumventing an interlock device. Police said Roach was stopped for having an expired inspection sticker and had a suspended license for a prior DWI. She failed field sobriety tests and her vehicle was impounded, according to police. She had blood taken at police headquarters in Hampton Bays for felony DWI, police said.

Justen Durell Brown, 20, of Flanders was recently arrested in Flanders and charged with DWI, reckless driving and unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle. Police said Brown was speeding in the center turning lane of State Route 24 and failed to stop for a police officer, committing several traffic infractions, until he reached his driveway, where he attempted to flee on foot. Police said he was in an intoxicated condition and there were multiple cans of malt liquor in his vehicle. He was additionally charged with speeding, moving from lane unsafely, unsafe turn without signaling, open container, no plate lamp, failure to use designated lane, and driving an uninspected motor vehicle.
