Southampton Town Police Log: DWI, DWAI

Driving While Ability Impaired

• Quincy Hughes, 22, of Riverhead, was arrested on March 12 at 12:21 a.m. on Lake Avenue in Northampton and charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor, and speeding, a traffic violation.

Police said Quincy was involved in a motor vehicle accident, injured and then subsequently transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead. A blood sample test at the hospital revealed that Quinn was under the influence of the prescription medication Xanax and had taken more than the prescribed amount at the time of the accident, police said.

He was issued an appearance ticket while in the hospital to appear in April 11.

Driving While Intoxicated

• Douglas Champagne, 28, of Flanders, was arrested after police pulled him over March 24 at 4:18 p.m. for a traffic violation on West Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays, according to the arrest report. After failing several field sobriety tests, Champagne was taken into custody and charged with DWI with blood alcohol content of .08 or higher, a misdemeanor, and tailgating, a traffic violation.

• Lori Miller, 33, of Flanders, was arrested March 26 at 12:28 a.m. on Route 24 and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Miller, police said, refused a breath screening test for alcohol, which will automatically result in a one-year suspension of her driver's license. She was additionally charged with unsafely moving from a road lane, a traffic violation.
