Southampton Police Log: Flanders Man Charged With Having Drugs, Open Container In Car

In other Southampton Town arrests, a Riverhead resident was charged with DWI.

Cops: 3 Charged With Drug Possession and 1 Had Illegal Handgun

• Joshua McDermott, 23, of Flanders, was arrested in Hampton Bays on April 28 along with Kenneth Gordon, 36, of Central Islip and Justin Benkov, 26, of  Flanders. All were charged with one count each of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor. Cops said the three men were spotted in a vehicle on West Montauk Highway at 12:34 a.m. and were found to be in possession of marijuana and open containers of alcoholic beverages. Benkov was additionally charged with criminal possession of a weapon, second degree, a C felony, after police found an illegal handgun in the car.

2 Charged With Possessing Crack Cocaine

• Charles Roach, 47, of Riverhead and Deena Colgan, 40, of Southampton, were arrested together at 3:33 a.m. on Flanders Road in Flanders on April 27 after police stopped a vehicle being driven by Colgan. Both were charged with one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor. Cops said a quantity of crack cocaine was found in the vehicle. Roach, the passenger, was additionally charged with unlawfully consuming an alcoholic beverage in the car, a traffic infraction.

DWI

• Jennifer Gaffney, 37, of Riverhead, was charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, in Flanders April 25. Police said they observed Gaffney speeding on Flanders Road at 3:21 a.m. After she was stopped, police said the driver failed field sobriety tests including a positive breath test for alcohol. Gaffney was also charged with one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor, after a quantity of marijuana and a crack pipe with residue was found.
