Southampton Police: Teen on Bike Hit by Car, Hospitalized

Thirteen-year old boy hit on bicycle while crossing Route 105 on Saturday night.

A 13-year old boy was struck by a truck and hospitalized on Saturday night while riding his bicycle on Route 105. 

According to Southampton Police, Rashad Jackson was crossing Route 105 at the intersection of Route 24 on his bike, traveling westbound, when the driver of a 2004 Chevrolet pickup who was traveling southbound on Route 105 hit him.

Southampton Police and Flanders Northampton Volunteer Ambulance responded to the scene.

The boy, who police said is from Mastic, was rushed to the Peconic Bay Medical Center, and later transferred to Stony Brook University Medical Center.

Southampton Police said the driver of the pickup was not charged with anything. His vehicle was impounded for a safety check.

An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated that the 13-year old boy was from Flanders. According to Southampton Police, he is from Mastic.
