Suspects Arrested On Charges of Drugs, DWI

In other police blotter news, reports of graffiti and identity theft.

The following information was supplied by the Southampton Town Police department and the Riverhead Town Police department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate convictions.

• Riverhead resident William Evans, 47, was arrested on Thursday, April 19 at 6:25 p.m. at the intersection of Route 24 and Royal Avenue by Southampton Town Police after he allegedly drove off the roadway and collided with a sign. Police said further investigation revealed he was operating the vehicle in an intoxicated condition with a suspended driver's license.

Evans was charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the 3rd degree, both misdemeanors. He was processed at Southampton Town Police Headquarters and held for morning arraignments.

• Jovan Coffey, 30, of Calverton, was arrested on Friday, April 20, at 1 a.m. after allegedly becoming involved in an altercation on Wildwood Trail in Northampton. An investigation by Southampton Town police revealed that Coffey was allegedly in possession of a quantity of heroin. He was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree and 3rd degree. He was processed at Southampton Town Police Headquarters and held for morning arraignment. 

• Riverhead resident Dwayne K. Harris, 27, was arrested on Friday, April 20 at 2:00 a.m. at the Riverside traffic circle by Southampton Town Police. Harris was the passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for an equipment violation; he was allegedly found to be in possession of marijuana and cocaine. Harris was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 5th degree, a felony, and unlawful possession of marijuana. He was processed at Southampton Town Police Headquarters and held for arraignment.

• Joshua Foulquier, 18, of New York City, was arrested on Friday, April 20 by New York State Troopers at 12:15 a.m. after they stopped a car in which he was a passenger for allegedly speeding, driving 64 miles per hour in a 40 mile per hour zone. Police said there was a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle, a black Maserati. A search of the vehicle yielded 1.5 grams of hashish, which allegedly belonged to Foulquier. Foulquier was arrested for criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree, a misdemeanor, and is scheduled to return to Southampton Town Court on May 7.

• Riverhead Town Police reported two incidents of grafitti recently: On April 16 at 9:54 a.m. a Riverhead resident reported that an unknown person had spray painted a garage door on Roanoke Avenue with the letters "ST" in black paint. Also on April 16, an Osborne Avenue resident reported at 11:31 a.m. that an unknown individual had painted her neighbor's fence with the words "UBN 5 Star Gangsta Blood" in black. She said she noticed the graffiti on April 14. 

• A Riverhead resident reported on April 14 that she had been the alleged victim of identity theft after she received an email from her bank regarding possible fraudulent activity on her account by an individual attempting to make charges from Brazil for over $800.
