Incident Report: Grand Larceny, Burglary

The following information was supplied by the Southampton Town Police Department.

Incidents from Southampton Town Police reports from Nov. 28 through Dec. 5:

Grand Larceny

A 35-year-old woman from Riverside told police that on Nov. 30 at around 11:36 a.m. a black pickup truck pulled into her driveway on Pegs Lane and towed away her 1996 Land Rover Discovery. The woman told police that Land Rover had not been working but she recently got it running again, according to the incident report. Officers are investigating and have a witness, police said.

Burglary

A 16-year-old student at the Riverhead High School told police that on Dec. 2 between noon and 2:27 p.m. someone stole $780 worth of jewelry and $100 cash from her home on Fern Avenue in Flanders. Officers saw that the window in the back door of the girl’s home had been shattered with a tool, according to a incident report. Police are investigating.

A real estate agent for a home on Sylvan Avenue in Flanders told Town Police that sometime between 11 a.m. Nov. 21 and noon Nov. 29, someone stole a $950 boiler from the residence. The home has been vacant for the past two years, but the boiler was still in good condition, officers said.

Menacing

Police have reached a road block investigating what could have been a deadly incident Dec. 4 in Flanders.

A 24-year-old man from Ridge told police that he was sitting in a car with an acquaintance on a side street in Flanders Dec. 4 at around 6:30 p.m. when his friend suddenly grabbed $750 cash out of the center console of the car and ran away to 1998 Honda parked nearby. The name of the street was not included in the incident narrative.

The Ridge man chased the Honda for a few minutes until the car stopped and a man wearing a face mask and dark hoodie got out and pointed a black handgun at him, according to a narrative of the event in the incident report. The Ridge man ran away and called police, officers said.

The case is considered active pending further information. Officers said they have tried to contact the Ridge man numerous times since Dec. 4 but have not yet heard back, according to the incident report.

Police also tried to identify the Flanders neighborhood based on the initial report, but could not.

Graffiti

A 47-year-old man from Flanders told police that sometime before Nov. 30 at 7:04 a.m. someone drew graffiti on all four sides of the little league bathroom at Iron Point Park off Wood Road Trail in Flanders. The graffiti stated “AOC” and other unreadable words, according to a incident report. Police are investigating.

Petty Larceny

A 52-year-old man from Riverside who owns Hampton Town Taxi told Town Police that on Nov. 14 at around 6 a.m. he discovered $480 cash was missing from his office on Riverleigh Avenue, according to an incident report. Police are investigating and looking for leads.

A 40-year-old man from Flanders told Town Police that sometime between 10 p.m. Nov. 28 and 3:30 a.m. Nov. 29 someone stole a stereo, subwoofer and two amplifiers from his 2002 PT Crusier while it was parked in the driveway of his home on Flanders Road, according to an incident report.
