Town Police Log: $15K in Jewelry Goes Missing from Baiting Hollow Home

$15,000 Worth of Jewelry Missing

A Baiting Hollow man told police that $15,000 worth of his deceased wife's jewelry has gone missing from his home, according to a police report filed on Nov. 12. The man said he last remembered the jewelry in its place about a week ago, but has since noticed that only two of the boxes of jewelry remain, police said. The man said he will continue to look around his home to assure they weren't misplaced, according to a police report.

A South Carolina woman told Riverhead police on Nov. 10 that a Smith and Wesson handgun she had left for safekeeping in her Peconic Bay Boulevard home had gone missing sometime in the past 10 years, police said. It was not immediately clear why the gun has been missing for so long. The Sherrif's Department was notified of the missing gun. 

Harassment Arrest

Thomas Johnston, 24, of Riverhead was arrested and charged with second-degree harassment after an incident at the Oakland Ridge mobile home park in Riverhead on Nov. 14 at about 2 a.m. Police did not release any additional details about the incident.
