Town Police Log: 2 Hampton Bays Teens Arrested for Graffiti

The following information was supplied by the Riverhead Town Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

---Police arrested Trevor Craker and Cody McGovern, both 17 of Hampton Bays, on Nov 23. and charged them with criminal mischief for spraying graffiti. Craker was charged with third-degree criminal mischief and making graffiti, police said; McGovern was charged with second-degree criminal mischief and making graffiti. No further information was made available by police.

---Two unknown women reportedly stole over $1,000 in hard drives from the Target on Route 58 on Nov. 23, police said. The complainant from Target told police that the two women were caught on surveillance video carrying large bags that he believes hid the missing merchandise, according to a police report. The victim said the two women stole four hard drives worth $1,116 in total.

The first suspect was described as being in her mid 20s with long brown hair, a white and blue polo shirt, a dark-colored jacket, blue jeans and tan shoes, police said. The second suspect was described as also in her mid 20s, with long black hair, a purple jacket, blue jeans and black shoes.

The complainant from Target said the two women were involved in a previous larceny at the Medford Target, but were unable to be identified, according to a police report. Police said they are making a copy of the video footage and are still investigating the alleged theft.

---A Riverhead man told police that on Nov. 24, someone broke into his 1990 white Chevrolet and stole about $4,500 worth of electronics and jewelry from the vehicle, according to a police report. The victim said someone shattered the rear window of his vehicle on East Second Street between the hours of 1 and 1:30 a.m, police said.

The victim said the thief stole a stereo, 2 amplifiers, a bottle of wine, and a silver necklace and bracelet worth $2,300 and $700, respectively. Police said they are still investigating the incident
