Town Police Log: Car Windows Broken in Commerce Avenue Parking Lot

The following information was supplied by the Riverhead Town Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

Two cars in a parking lot on Commerce Avenue had their windows shattered and property allegedly stolen from inside on Nov. 1, Riverhead Town police said.

Police received reports from the parking lot around 6:30 p.m. from victims who said their passenger side windows had been "broken out," according to a police report. The first victim had a pink Coach wristlet wallet containing her credit cards stolen from her 2009 Dodge sometime between 1:30 and 6:20 p.m, police said.

A second victim said the window of her 2007 Hyundai was also broken sometime between 1:30 p.m. and 6:20 p.m, police said. She told police that her purse may have been stolen from the vehicle, but said she may have left it at home, according to a police report.
