Town Police Log: Man Arrested for Possession of Stolen Property
The following information was supplied by the Riverhead Town Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.
Stanley Lawrence, 43, was arrested on Dec. 8 and charged with two counts of criminal possession of stolen property, possession of burglar's tools and a slew of traffic violations, according to a police blotter report. Additional information about Lawrence's arrest was unavailable.
A Riverhead woman told police that an unknown person removed nearly $1,500 worth of items from her husband's unlocked car. Sometime before 8:45 a.m., the alleged thief entered the car and took two moisture meters, worth $400, a distometer, worth $400, and a Canon camera and bag, as well as $10 cash. The woman's husband said noticed the smell of cigarette smoked when he entered the car in the morning and discovered a knitted black glove that he claims wasn't his. Police said detectives are still investigating the incident.
Phillip Ryan was arrested on Dec. 4 after he was involved in a car accident on Roanoke Avenue while allegedly driving with a revoked driver's license. Ryan was arrested, processed and released on $250 bail. Additional information about the accident was unavailable.
