Town Police Log: Prostitution, DWI

The following information was supplied by the Southampton Town Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

Prostitution

An alleged prostitute and her john were arrested in Northampton last Wednesday evening after police said they spotted the couple together in Flanders.

Ismael Mercado, 45, of Center Moriches with Kimberly Torres, 45, of Southampton were pulled over on suspicion of DWI at the corner of Old Westhampton Road and Lakeview Drive in Northampton at around 11 p.m. Aug. 31, according to police reports.

After pulling over the pair, police said they discovered Torres had drugs on her. She was charged with prostitution and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both misdemeanors.

Torres was charged with third-degree criminal patronizing a prostitute and DWI, both misdemeanors.

DWI

Candice Whaley, 28, of North Babylon was arrested Monday at the intersection of County Road 104 and the traffic circle in Riverside and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Police said Whaley was in a car accident when they discovered she was intoxicated.

Assault

A stolen kiss in a car on Flanders Road turned into a fight on Sept. 1, according to Southampton Town Police.

A 45-year-old man from East Yaphank told Southampton Town Police that his girlfriend was sitting on his lap kissing him Saturday at around 3:30 p.m. on what appeared to be a small drive leading off Flanders Road when a nearby homeowner drove toward him and blocked him from leaving the drive. The small road turned out to be the homeowner’s private driveway, according to police reports.

The homeowner allegedly hit the East Yaphank man’s Ford Ranger twice with his GMC van, eventually forcing him into a ditch. Police said the GMC van blocked the couple from leaving.

The woman with the East Yaphank man and another Flanders woman pushed, slapped and spit at each other, too, according to police records.
