Troopers Bust 2 Riverhead Clerks For Selling Alcohol to Minors

Another 12 businesses were found to be in compliance, police said.

Two Riverhead clerks were nabbed after troopers for selling alcohol to minors on Friday.

On Friday, the New York State Police Barracks in Riverside conducted the Thanksgiving weekend underage drinker enforcement operation in Riverhead.

During the operation, two retail establishments were issued appearance tickets for selling alcoholic beverages to an undercover state police agent, police said.

According to police, the agent bought a six-pack of Bud-Light Beer from the Time To Eat Café on West Main Street Riverhead. The clerk, 46, of the Bronx was charged with one count of unlawful dealing with a child and one count of prohibited sale of an alcoholic beverage. He was issued an appearance ticket to appear in Riverhead Town Court at a later date, police said.

The agent also bought a six-pack of Smirnoff Ice from the Riverhead Supermarket & Deli on West Main St., Riverhead. The clerk, 21, of Freeport, was charged with one count of unlawful dealing with a child and one count of prohibited sale of an alcoholic beverage. He was issued an appearance ticket to appear in Riverhead Town Court at a later date.

The following 12 establishments were also targeted and they were found to be in compliance: Polish Town Corner Deli, Main Street Quick Stop, Lucky Wine & Liquor, Stop N Go Mini Mart, Peconic Wine & Liquor, OK Gas Mini Mart, Village Delicatessen, MG Deli, Mae’s Deli, Village Grocery, Railroad Market & Grocery and Oscar Deli & Grocery.
