Two Busted Right Outside Suffolk County Jail

The suspects pulled up back to back at the guard booth outside the Suffolk County Correctional Facility -- and were both arrested on the spot.

Suffolk County sheriffs arrested two individuals on Tuesday at approximately 2:50 p.m. right outside the Suffolk County Correctional Facility in Riverside.

According to authorities, Suffolk County Deputy Sheriff Joseph Mirro arrested the operators of two motor vehicles who happened to pull up back-to-back at the guard booth located at the entrance to the Suffolk County Correctional Facility.

Crystal Webberly, 29, of Middle Island, N.Y., allegedly violated a temporary order of protection by being in the same vehicle as her 11-month-old child, police said.

While verifying the court order of protection regarding Webberly, authorities say a second vehicle, operated by Christopher Robert Mizelle, 26, of Huntington, was also stopped by Mirro at the guard booth.

Upon further investigation, Mizelle was also allegedly found to be in violation of a 1st District Court permanent order of protection for being in the same vehicle of his passenger.

Mizelle fled the scene, authorities said, and was apprehended after a short pursuit. Police said Mizelle was recently released from the Suffolk County Correctional Facility on July 17, where he had been sentenced to 30 days in jail for another charge.

Webberly was charged with misdemeanor criminal contempt in the second degree and Mizelle was charged with felony criminal contempt in the first degree, obstructing governmental administration, and various traffic violations.

Both defendants were held overnight and were scheduled for arraignment on Wednesday in Southampton Town justice court.
