Two Charged In Barth's Drug Store Robbery

Suspects were already incarcerated after being charged with another armed robbery.

Riverhead police have arrested and charged two individuals in connection with an armed robbery at Barth's Drug Store in Riverhead in November. 

According to police, Arnell Nash, 21, of Riverhead, and Erick Darden, 19, of Riverhead, were arrested and processed with the Nov. 7 robbery at Barth's.

Nash and Darden were indicted by the Suffolk County District Attorney's office on three counts of robbery in the first degree and three counts of robbery in the third degree each, police said.

Darden was additionally indicted in separate incidents on two counts of burglary in the second degree in connection with residential burglaries that had been reported, police said.

Nash and Darden are currently incarcerated at the Suffolk County Correctional Facility.

In November, Southampton Town detectives arrested three subjects in connection with the Valero Gas Station robbery and charged them with robbery in the first degree, a class B felony. Arrested and charged were Larry M. Moore, 17, of Riverhead, Darden, and and Nash.

According to a release issued by Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota Wednesday, Darden, 19, and Nash, 21, both of Riverhead, pleaded not guilty to one charge of robbery in the first degree, one charge of robbery in the third degree and one count of petty larceny.

Police said the trio is believed to be responsible for not less than four armed robberies between October 20 and Nov. 19, including the robberies at the BP Station in Mattituck and Barth’s Pharmacy in Riverhead. A fourth armed robbery at the Spirit Halloween store in Riverhead has also been under investigation.

The release indicated that Darden is incarcerated in lieu of $40,000 cash bail or $200,000 bond; Nash is being held in lieu of $25,000 cash or $100,000 bond.
