Missing Ridge Man Found Unharmed

Police had issued a Silver Alert Thursday night, asking the public's help in finding a 71-year-old Ridge man with schizophrenia, and in the early stages of Alzheimer's Disease, who was last seen boarding a bus on its way to Riverhead. He was found about 24 hours later.

Cops: Man Looking for Work Groped by Stranger

A 52-year-old Wading River man was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of forcible touching in early July after he reportedly picked up a man near the Riverisde McDonald's, asked him if he was looking for work and proceeded to grope him once he got in his car.

Rising Costs Swamp Horton Avenue Flooding Fix

New projections that a much-needed fix to the Horton Avenue flood zone will cost over $2 million more than previously believed has brought the remediation project to a halt, though the homes that were once swamped and boarded have already been destroyed.

Murder Ending In Riverhead Hanging Remembered In Exhibit

Details and artifacts from a grisly 1854 double murder that resulted in a hanging in downtown Riverhead will be on display starting on Saturday, as the Southold Historical Society kicks off its Wickham Murders exhibition, based on a book by members of the society's administration.

Sun Shines on Jamesport Fire Department Parade

Thousands showed up to Main Road in Jamesport on Wednesday evening, a perfect night for a local parade. Held on the second day of the Jamesport Fire Department carnival – which runs through Saturday – the parade was led by Grand Marshal Andrew Mitchell of PBMC Health, and emceed by Town Assessor and JFD member Mason Haas.

Downtown Historic Architecture Tour Planned

Riverhead has a rich history and scores of longtime residents with experiences to share about the town's storied past.

To that end, a Downtown Historic Architecture Tour of Main Street with Richard Wines, chairman of Riverhead's Landmarks Preservation Committee,  will take place on July 16. The tour will begin at 5:30 p.m. by the Riverhead Grilll, with an after party to follow at the Grill. Tour is by donation.

Hop Processor Arrives at Wading River Farm

A 5.5-ton hop processor arrived in Wading River last week after a hop farmer raised over $30,000 in an online fundraiser to purchase it, riding the wave of a craft beer boom to offer more local ingredients in local beer.

Riverhead Hit-And-Run Victim Becomes a Dad

Exactly one month to the day that Riverhead hit-and-run victim Aaron Hartmann was critically injured, he became a father for the first time.

Film Crews Shoot Video At Blue Duck Bakery

It was lights, camera, action at the popular Blue Duck Bakery on East Main Street in Riverhead on Tuesday as a film crew of 30 converged to shoot a video on-site. 

According to owner Nancy Kouris, the video was a project spearheaded by the Bank of America and the Community Development Corporation of Long Island.
