Woman 'Badly Beaten' in Flanders, FRNCA VP Warns

Residents urged to walk in pairs, exercise caution.

A woman was "badly beaten," assaulted and dragged into the woods off Flanders Boulevard, south of Tyler Street on Monday, according to Flanders, Riverside and Northampton Civic Association Vice-President Vince Taldone at a public FRNCA meeting on Monday night.

Taldone said although he was unclear on the specifics, he felt the information needed to be shared with FRNCA members for safety reasons.

Southampton Town Police Sgt. Andrew Ficurilli confirmed that police were called to an investigation at the location on Monday, but he was not immediately able to provide any details or information on the alleged incident.

Taldone said as far as he knew, the suspect had not yet been apprehended. The alleged attack, he said, occurred on a dark, dirt road. "She was injured badly," he said.

Taldone and FRNCA President Brad Bender urged residents to exercise caution. "Walk with a friend, and bring a flashlight," he said.
