5 Reasons Marlando Williams Deserves Your Vote for Town Board

Democratic challenger makes final pitch to Riverhead electorate.

Riverhead Patch has asked all the candidates for Town Assessor, Town Board and Supervisor to write up five reasons why they deserve your vote next Tuesday, Nov. 8. Here is what incumbent Democratic challenger Marlando Williams wants you to know:

  1. I have been a public servant for more than 20 years of my adult life. Sixteen as a New York State Trooper and seven year representing public and private employees and their families in the work place.
  2. I am honest and come to the Riverhead Town Board without an agenda. I only want to do what is in the best interest of Riverhead.  I see Riverhead with fresh eyes, with new ways to solve problems, without being beholden to anyone.  No campaign donors, no political favors, no personal IOU's, can make me sell out the people of Riverhead. My integrity cannot be bought!
  3. My top priority will be to reduce the tax burden on the residences of Riverhead.  Riverhead is the fastest growing town on Long Island, but it doe's not mean we should have the highest tax increases in Suffolk for 2 years in a row.
  4. I will control spending so we do not have to rob the highway department to help pay for the Justice Court and other departments. I will do this by first giving back a large percent of my salary back to the town in support of those departments. I want to streamline the town's permit process. I want to establish annual performance audits for all departments. I want to renew and require the IDA to promote the town. Finally, I will listen to individuals and civic groups in an effort to resolve problems.
  5. My Republican incumbents have given us the highest tax increases 2 years in a row. As your councilman, I will not vote to increase taxes solely on the backs of working class family, seniors and small businesses. On November 8, I humblely ask for your vote. Vote "YES" to MARLANDO WILLIAMS, working to keep your taxes low.
