5 Reasons Robert Svoboda Deserves Your Vote for Assessor

Democratic challenger for Town Assessor, running on Democratic line, makes his pitch to the Riverhead electorate.

Riverhead Patch has asked all the candidates for Town Assessor, Town Board and Supervisor to write up five reasons why they deserve your vote next Tuesday, Nov. 8. Here is what Robert Svoboda, a Democratic challenger candidate for Town Assesor, wants you to know:

1. We need a two-party system in the assessors' office as the current assessors are all Republicans.
2. We need checks and balances. Last year, in 2010, the town spent $1 million for "special counsels" to handle cases. This was a waste of your money. They have a town attorney and what is he doing? Lawyers taking care of lawyers.
3. We need way more open government. When it takes me eight months to get information from the Town of Riverhead under a Freedom of Information Act request, there is something wrong with this picture.
4. Some properties have in my opinion been overvalued and this is not good in a recession economy. I have experience in real estate.
5. I have administrative experience, served in the U.S. Army and want to see some better changes for Riverhead.
