Campaigns Offer Rides to Voters Short on Gas

Altschuler, Bishop campaigns organizing volunteers to drive to the polls.

Worried that casting a ballot may leave you stranded, with gas in short supply this week? Don't worry – political parties and campaigns are more than willing to get you to the polls.

"If you need a ride to the polls, we will be more than happy to pick you up," said Diana Weir, spokeswoman for who's running against incumbent Rep. Tim Bishop for the First Congressional District seat.

Weir said the campaign has compiled a list of volunteers ready on the local level throughout the district to pick up voters who are low on gas. Altschuler's headquarters can be reached at 775-9230.

Jesse Garcia, chair of the Brookhaven Town Republican Committee, added that the group has six buses that will be running all day to bring voters to the polls. Garcia said the Brookhaven Town Republican Committee can be reached at 451-2320.

Bishop spokesman Bobby Pierce told 27East.com on Monday the Bishop campaign is organizing volunteers to pick up voters as well, asking anyone interested to call 696-1345.

Teacher, I was called by the union last week to remind me that the vote was still going to take place, regardless of Sandy, but then the caller got to the real point -- to remind me to vote for the Dem ticket (for the teachers.... and the kids). I laughed and told her we were all voting Republican and she told me that she was getting a lot of that. RR and R all the way.
