Carpenter: Let's Open up County Government to East End

Republican candidate for county exec announces "East End Access."

Republican candidate for Suffolk County executive Angie Carpenter unveiled a plan she said would be "constituent services in its most basic form" on Tuesday at the County Center in Riverside.

Entitled "East End Access," the plan would be composed of two components.

Carpenter said she would reopen a county executive office and Office for Consumer Affairs at the County Center in Riverside. Currently the two are based solely out of Hauppauge.

In addition, Carpenter said she would hold a bi-monthly public meeting on the East End with employees from the executive's office and others from "key county agencies," to be held in roving locations across the East End.

"The county workers would then be able to meet with residents, hear their concerns or problems and then facilitate a solution or put them in contact with someone who could," Carpenter said in a statement.
