Councilman Dunleavy Suffers Mild Heart Attack Monday Evening

Councilman is in stable condition at Stony Brook Medical Center.

Councilman John Dunleavy is in stable condition after suffering  a mild heart attack on Monday evening, according to Town Board Coordinator Linda Hulse.

Hulse said that Dunleavy "sounded good" on the phone Wednesday morning after being in surgery on Tuesday at Stony Brook University Medical Center to have a stent implanted in his heart.

Dunleavy said he, "won't be in for a few days," according to Hulse, and was checking in to make sure his messages were taken care of.

"He is in good spirits and resting comfortable with his family," she said.

According to Hulse, the councilman had triple bypass surgery 14 years ago but has had no incidents since.
