Dignity Memorial Vietnam Wall Opening Ceremonies

Veterans, elected officials and scores of residents gathered to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Opening ceremonies were held Friday night for the which has been visiting Calverton National Cemetery since Wednesday.

This week, those whosefor their country spoke about what the memorial meant to them.

Despite overcast skies, more than 100 turned out for the ceremony, where Rep. Tim Bishop, who paid tribute to over 58,000 fallen heroes whose names are inscribed on the wall.

A tribute to those who died at the monument reads, "In honor of the men and women of the Armed Forces of the United States who served in the Vietnam War."
