Gun Hunting Lottery To Be Held In Riverhead

Lottery open to all Riverhead residents and Riverhead landowners.

A January gun hunting lottery will be held in the town board room at Riverhead Town Hall on Dec. 17 at 6 p.m.

Riverhead Town Councilman George Gabrielsen announced the lottery at Tuesday's town board meeting.

The lottery will take place for the Jan. 7 to Jan. 31, 2013 time period. Hunting will take place on weekdays only, with three-day hunting spots. The lottery is open to all Riverhead residents and Riverhead landowners.

Riverhead Town Supervisor Sean Walter confirmed that hunting will take place on weekdays only. The supervisor suggested that the town's bike trail be closed during hunting season and said the discussion item could be placed on the agenda for the next town board work session.
