Losquadro Sworn into Office on Home Turf

Family, friends, and local pols on hand at ceremony in Calverton office.

Surrounded by friends, family, local politicians, and members of the media, Assemblyman Dan Losquadro, R - Calverton, was sworn in at his new office in Calverton on Friday morning by Suffolk County Judge Glenn A. Murphy.

Losquadro, representing New York's First Assembly District, defeated Democrat Marc Alessi in November and relinquished his former seat as Suffolk County Legislator and Minority Leader. The First A.D. covers from eastern Brookhaven to Orient, including Riverhead.

Losquadro was previously sworn in earlier in the week in Albany.

“Many of the people here today will be important allies in our efforts to make Long Island a more affordable place to live and raise a family,” Losquadro said. “As a father, I can think of no better reason to improve state government than to ensure that my son Joseph has the same opportunities that I had growing up on Long Island and the ability to raise his children here in Suffolk County.”

In an interview following the ceremony, Losquadro said he wants to focus on pension reform and consolidation of school services, which he's hoping in turn would lower property taxes.
