No Recycling Pick-Up Until Jan. 8 In Riverhead
The delay is due to the holiday, town officials said.
Hang on to those cans and cardboard Christmas boxes: There will not be any recycling pick-up until January 8 due to a holiday schedule in Riverhead.
The next pick-up day for paper and cardboard will be on Jan. 8 and the next co-mingled recycling pick-up day will be on Jan. 15. Residents can also refer to their recycling calendars, which they should have already received in the mail, town officials said.

“On behalf of the Town of Riverhead, I wish to apologize for this inconvenience and thank the residents for their understanding and cooperation,” Sanitation Superintendent John Reeve said.

He added that the occurrence is rare and has not occurred since Christmas and New Year’s Day last fell on a Wednesday in 2002.
