On a Shoestring: Free Drive-In Movies in Riverhead

Break out the jammies and the popcorn for an old-fashioned night of family fun.

Drive-in movies conjure up memories of days gone by -- of piling the kids in the station wagon with their pajamas on for a night of movies on a big screen, crackling speakers and buckets of popcorn.

Now, families can wax nostalgic and recreate the experience on Saturday as the Town of Riverhead hosts a drive-in movie night at Stotzky Park.

Free performances of "Casper" and "Poltergeist" will be shown; "Casper" will begin approximately at 7 p.m., followed by "Poltergeist," which is slated to begin at 9 p.m. The films will be shown on a 14' x 26' outdoor screen and sound will be transmitted via car radio.
