Power Outages Miss Riverhead, Road Clearing Continues

Blizzard of 2010 dumps snow of the region, though most locals retain their power.

A day after a brutal blizzard swept over Long Island, Riverhead residents began digging out from the feet of snow, and even largrer snow drifts. The bright side: Not too many people lost power in the storm.

The Long Island Power Authority reported Monday morning only 7 outages in the Riverhead area, according to its Storm Center website.

That same relief isn't felt across the region, as LIPA reported 9,191 outages across all of Long Island, down from more than 11,000 outages reported Sunday night.
