Question of the Day: Who Would Win a Cardinale/Walter Rematch?

The former supervisor was chosen Monday night by the Riverhead Democratic Committee to run again.

With town in November, a rematch of the 2009 supervisor's race seems likely.

While Democrat Greg Fischer has said he would wage a primary against Cardinale and the Republican nominees for elected office have yet to be set in stone, anything could still happen. No third-party candidates have stepped forward to run for supervisor.

But until something does happen, or a third candidate emerges from the fray, a 2009 rematch seems the most likely scenario as of now. Walter won the 2009 election by 249 votes — 4,339 to 4,090 — on the Republican and Conservative lines. He has stated in the past he is confident he will earn the Independence Party nomination as well, whose voters tallied 454 votes for Cardinale in 2009.

So today's question is: who would win in Novemeber — Cardinale or Walter?
