Readers: Thanks a Million to the Plow People

Facebook commenters gave their thank-yous to hardworking highway department workers for clearing Riverhead roads.

Some locals might be frustrated by the plowing in parts of town, but workers have been pulling long shifts to get roads cleared, and many have wanted to extend "thank yous" to those workers.

Here's some feedback we got from Riverhead Patch Facebook fans on those whose job never seems to be over during and after big snows. Feel free to comment in the boxes below, add pictures to this post and share your snow stories.

"A VERY big thank you to all the town employees who have take time away from their families to drive on the unsafe roads for endless, sleepless hours making them safe for us!!! Your hard work is much appreciated!" — Melanie Dinizio Drozd

"The main roads are so clear, you'd never had known anything even happened! It's like it snowed around them!" — Heidi Perry-Hipp

"As a resident of Donna Drive I was thrilled to see "big gun" plows on Sat! Back on Sunday am to do a clean up. Great job Riverhead Town." — Dawn Oschman Kelly

"Big pat on the back for all the crews who tirelessly to help keep our roads clear.... Proud to be a wife of a county boy!!" — Dawn Parker Jacobs

"To Gio and the crew...my street in private, so you don't come here. I have never had a complaint with anything you guys do. You have always done a fine job as far as I am concerned. People don't realize the work involved, the long hours, how large a town this is. We appreciate you in this family!" — Diane M. Barba

The crews did a great job on the main roads as you would expect but the job done on Middle Road and Ostrander left a lot to be desired. After the "plowing", these roads were still extremely dangerous.
