Ride A Bike, Take A Hike: Town Distributes Handy Riverhead Info

A brochure on sights to see will be available in a new box downtown.

Residents and visitors who want to see the sights around Riverhead by foot or bike will soon find it a bit easier.

The Riverhead town board discussed a new box that will be set up downtown to distribute a brochure that identifies, via a map, all the area's bicycle rack locations, outlines bike safety rules, and lists important emergency and informational phone numbers.

Riverhead Town Councilwoman Jodi Giglio said the literature box will be set up outside the community garden, in front of the playground, on West Main Street.

Giglio said the box and brochures were garnered through a "Creating Healthy Places" grant from Cornell Cooperative Extension, and much was put into the project by the town's alternative transportation committee.
