Riverhead Town Opens Warming Center In Aquebogue

Residents without heat can find comfort at the town's human resource center and should contact police in an emergency.

As frigid temperatures remain steady in Riverhead Tuesday, the town has opened a warming center at the senior center in Aquebogue.

Riverhead Town Supervisor Sean Walter warned residents that chilly temps and strong, gusty winds would continue throughout the day and said time outdoors should be kept to a minimum.

Residents should also wear of frostbite and hypothermia, he said.

Anyone without heat should head to the warming center, set up at the town's human resource center on Shade Tree Lane in Aquebogue, 631-722-4500.

"It is the hottest thing to do," Walter said.

In case of emergency, residents can call Riverhead Town police at 631-727-4500 or dial 911.
