In a list of LIRR changes, weekday westbound service leaving at 9:21 a.m. will be added, getting riders into New York City at 11:32 a.m.

Don't want to deal with traffic on the Long Island Expressway for a day trip into Manhattan?

The Long Island Rail Road is rolling out new time tables on Monday, and along with time changes throughout the system there will be a westbound train on weekday mornings leaving from Riverhead at 9:21 arriving passengers at Penn Station at 11:32 a.m.  — if everything goes as scheduled.

Legislator Ed Romaine, R-Center Moriches, will be there Monday morning to welcome anyone stepping on board and to promote the new opportunity for locals looking to capitalize public transit.

"There might only be one person looking to get on the train Monday," said Romaine last Thursday. "But we will promote it, and continue to make people aware that they have the opportunity for public transit to go into the city for a day trip. And we will continue to push for more service."

Passengers service has not been available on the  westbound train though it has been departing Riverhead since last September. It has been arriving at 8:55 a.m. in Riverhead since last fall and was dubbed "the jurors' train," referring to  its conveyance of jurors from western points looking to take the train to nearby courts.
