Town Wants Community Input On How To Improve Downtown

Participants in the survey can win prizes.

Have an idea for a store or restaurant that would be great in downtown Riverhead? Town officials want to hear all about it.

The Town of Riverhead is conducting a community survey and is asking long-term residents and first-time visitors alike for ideas that will keep crowds coming back for more.

Participant are asked to reflect on other thriving downtown areas and suggest features, events, businesses, restaurants or attractions that could help add to the town's current rebirth.

The survey only takes between five and 10 minutes to complete.

As a thank you, participants will be able to enter into a drawing to win an array of prizes, including $50 gift cards for restaurants, shops, services, and Tanger Outlets, or tickets to the Long Island Aquarium; just share an email address at the end of the survey to enter.

The survey is part of an ongoing project to boost revitalization downtown: A $567,000 Brownfield Opportunities grant from the Department of State, in partnership with the Department of Environmental Conservation, has allowed the town to hire consultants Nelson, Pope & Voorhis to develop comprehensive approaches to generate new visions for new growth in the area between Tanger Outlet Mall and downtown Riverhead.

The survey and the contest for the drawing prizes are administered through NP&V and sub-consultant Sustainable Long Island.

To participate, go to the town's website, and click on “Riverhead Inspired – Downtown Survey” or go directly here.
