Business

: put out its second bottle release this past weekend, a Double India Pale Ale. The brewery celebrated a release party on Friday night at Patchogue's Bobbique as 4,500 bottles hit retail shelves Saturday. The second bottle release is a taste of what's to come, as the Pulaski Street brewery looks forward to bottling its regular rotation of beers.

: For the wine drinkers out there, held a release party on Saturday for a couple of their wines, the 2009 Marco Tulio and the 2007 Sound Avenue Merlot.

 Close to 40 cash mobbers hit downtown Riverhead on Saturday morning, pouring into downtown shops and restaurants before Valentine's Day to shop local.

: As Jazz on the Vine kicked off this weekend, businesses that thrive off the six-week-long winter tourist attraction - from restaurants to hotels and beyond - prepared for another influx of tourist dollars.

Government

: A 4.1-acre parcel at the corner of Sound Avenue and Park Road - which currently hosts a - is in jeopardy of being preserved as Suffolk County considers re-evaluating the process on how it purchases open space.

: Supervisor Sean Walter says he wants a detailed list of highway projects Gio Woodson, highway superintendent, is working on. Woodson feels he doesn't get the town board's respect as an elected official, and has equipment in his department that could save the town up to $75,000 - if he would allow them to use it.

: The town board passed over 50 resolutions on Tuesday. Take a look at 5 that we found stuck out among them.

Community

: Snow may have touched down over the weekend, but skaters at Stotzky Park were likely still there. With a spring-like winter so far, the park has seen a core group of skaters coming back and back again to take advantage of the town park.

High Schools Announce Second Quarter Honor Rolls: and announced their second quarter honor rolls this week. Congrats!

: After to earn a special permit for the Blues Festival this summer, the town board voted to grant a permit, provided the group obtains insurance by May 1. 

While thousands upon thousands of Giants fans traveled into New York City for the New York Giants ticker-tape parade, one television news report featured a few residents from Riverhead who found themselves at the front of the action.

Police/Fire

: A Saturday morning fire at an abandoned home on East Avenue, believed to have been started by squatters, brought dozens of firefighters to the scene. The home - considered a threat to public safety, said a town fire marshal - was later demolished.

: Riverhead Police said that a dog store owner in Aquebogue reported that two East Hampton teens stole a dog valued at $2,500 from the shop on Feb. 1. They were arrested on grand larceny charges.

: Southampton Police arrested a Riverhead man on Feb. 4 on charges of DWI. According to police, his license had previously been suspended for prior incidents and failing to pay child support.

School

 In the first of six presentations breaking down the proposed 2012-2013 school budget, Superintendent Nancy Carney broke the difficult, though not unexpected, news that cuts in the coming school year are going to play a role in the future of the Riverhead Central School District.
