Dear Friends:
First and foremost, I want to say that my thoughts and my prayers – and those of my entire campaign team – are with all those struggling to recover from the impact of Hurricane Sandy.
Times are tough here right now on Long Island, but we will recover – and come back stronger than ever. If there is anything my office can do for you and your family, please contact my Campaign HQ @ 631-775-9230.
Although much less important in the grand scheme of things, I also have some terrific news from the campaign front that I want to share with you!
The district’s paper of record – Newsday – has endorsed my candidacy for Congress. Please read some key excerpts from Newsday’s editorial below and find a list of additional endorsements we’ve received.
“Altschuler, who holds an MBA and lives in St. James, makes a compelling case for his candidacy this time out.”
“As co-founder of OfficeTiger, a Manhattan-based business support company, in addition to his founding role at CloudBlue, he's proven himself as an entrepreneur with extraordinary business acumen, someone who could help Long Island's private sector create jobs.”
“If elected, Altschuler would likely be a member of the majority in the House of Representatives, which would give him a substantial advantage as he works to carry out his agenda.”
“Altschuler says he will start a new GOP caucus to end the bitter partisanship that has paralyzed the House. He will be held to that promise.”
“While Bishop insists that government can be a force for good, his challenger says government too often overreaches. The country is living beyond its means now, Altschuler says, and if you give the government more money, its expenses will just mushroom accordingly.”
But Altschuler has emerged as a business leader with the skills to guide eastern Long Island toward a brighter future. Newsday endorses Altschuler.

your views do not represent those of my family. we support women's rights, choice, marriage equality. your campaign was full of lies and slander. republicans are out of touch and living in the '50s. oh, and by the way, outsourcing is not good for long island.
You and your campaign workers have run a filthy campaign where you lied and slandered a good man for purely cynical and selfish purposes. I hope that the majority of voters reject you and all you represent. Like most Long Islanders, I am pro-worker, pro-civil rights, pro-common sense, and pro-American. You sold out your fellow Americans to make a quick buck in the 90s. I am sure you will govern the same way if elected. You and the present-day GOP are a very different party from the one I grew up in and that my father voted for. Until your brand of me-first extremism is wiped from the party, it will continue to go the way of the dodo. It's already there. Why else would the GOP have to resort to voting manipulation, gerrymandering, and legal challenges to keep people from voting. Purely disgusting. I hope you lose today and I hope that if that happens, you think long and hard about why good Long Islanders have rejected you twice. But even if you win, you will have to answer one day for all the American lives you have ruined in the name of money.
Why should anyone vote for you when your job in Congress is subservient to a previous commitment? You tied your own hands.
The editor tells me that Southampton Patch will soon have a new site but, since the cause of the glitch is unknown, the possibility of recurrence cannot be ruled out. This is not the first time that this has happened. One's post is shown on a grey background with the notation, "Pending Approval", in the upper right hand corner of the comment window but the post doesn't show on the moderation queue of the editor or on the screen of anyone but the author. I suppose its better to be censored capriciously rather than maliciously but both suck.
You lied about our honorable Congressman, then you asked us to vote for you. When you learned that your lies were wrong, as made clear by the sole witness, you did not change your ads and continued to lie about our honorable Congressman. It's one think to error and to correct the error with or without an apology. But to lie and not to correct your lie is intentional deceipt of the voter who you asked to vote for you, trust you and send you to represent us in Washington. Why would anyone want a liar as the representative? I hope that you take that question back to New Jersey and ponder it every time you wake up in the middle of the night to ask yourself, "Where did I go wrong?". Good luck in New Jersey and good bye, Mr. Altschuler. Your return would be iladvised.
