Riverhead Patch has compiled school budget numbers over the past five years, in comparison to this year's proposed budget.

With school budget season upon us - the board of education is planning on voting on its budget for the 2011-2012 school year at its - Riverhead Patch will be posting line items from the past five adopted budgets, in addition to the proposed budget, for the public to see where anticipated spending rose, fell and stayed the same over the years. Keep in mind: the posted numbers are adopted budgets, not expenditures, meaning that the amount budgeted for the school year may not have been the final amount spent. (One example of this would be the amount budgeted for teachers' retirement in 2009-2010. While $4.3 million was budgeted, the school district spent $2.7 million here that year.)
