Big Check For Blue Masques After Fundraiser

A fundraiser brought in over $3,500 for theater students.

Riverhead residents revved up in force to help support student theater this spring.

On Nov. 16, the Riverhead High School Blue Masques hosted their second "Driven to Give" fundraiser in conjunction with Riverhead Ford/Lincoln. For every car test driven, Riverhead Ford/Lincoln agreed to donate $20 to the Blue Masques Drama Club.

“Help us reach the Emerald City as we prepare for our spring musical, 'The Wiz'," Blue Masques directors Dena Tishim and Jessica Guadagnino asked.

Help came in the form of a big, fat check on Thursday: Riverhead Ford-Lincoln General Manager Tom Williams delivered a $3,620 check to Riverhead High School.

Last year’s “Driven to Give” fund-raiser netted the Blue Masques $2,000; this year, the amount was almost doubled.

“We are very thankful to Mr. Williams and Riverhead Ford-Lincoln,” teacher Dena Tishim said. “This money will go a long way to helping us cover our expenses for our spring production of 'The Wiz.'"

Another "Driven to Give" fundraiser will take place this spring.

"The Wiz" will be performed on March 29 at 7 p.m., March 30 at 2 p.m., April 5 and 5 at 7 p.m. at the Charles Cardona Auditorium at Riverhead High School. For more information contact Ms. Tishim at 631-369-6711.
