Blue Waves to Tip Off in State Final 4 Game

Girls' basketball game at 6:15 p.m. will be streaming live on Riverhead Patch, courtesy of a video stream from 'Riverhead News-Review.'

The Riverhead Blue Waves girls' hoops team made its way up to Troy on Thursday in preparation for Friday night's New York State Final Four game against Penfield.

Looking to continue their streak of success,, the girls are two wins away from a state title.

The Blue Waves (23-1) were seen off with a pep rally at Riverhead High School before they hopped on a charter bus for the four-hour ride. Friday's game starts at 6:15 p.m.

On their road to the state semifinal game, the Section XI champs knocked out Patchogue-Medford, , ,  to become the Suffolk County Class AA champs, and most recently Baldwin.

Penfield (23-0), the Section 6 champs from just outside Rochester, beat Lockport, 54-37 last weekend. The winner will play either Osssining or Cicero-N. Syracuse on Saturday night, starting at 8:45 p.m.
